Do you avoid social situations? Are you afraid of doing something embarrassing or being judged by others? In therapy, you'll practice relaxation skills, gradually face fearful situations and replace irrational thoughts with realistic ones. You'll have a greater understanding of social anxiety and the behaviors that perpetuate it. After successful completion of therapy you'll experience a reduction in fear, feel more confident and empowered to engage in social situations.
Do you have an intense fear and avoidance of an object or situation? Phobias can include animals, heights, elevator, airplane, blood-injury, doctor or dentist and others. In therapy, you'll practice relaxation skills and replace fearful thoughts with realistic ones. EMDR therapy or Exposure therapy can be used successfully to treat phobias depending on client preference. After successful completion of therapy you'll significantly reduce your fear and regain control of your life.
Do you fear having a panic attack and there's no one to help or nowhere to escape? This can lead to avoiding places like grocery stores, crowds or driving on the highway. Your life becomes severely limited because you don't want to leave home or be without your safe person. In therapy, you'll practice relaxation training, gradual exposure and reframe fearful thinking. After successful completion of therapy you'll break the cycle of avoidance and feel able to navigate the world freely.
Do you experience sudden, overhwelming intense fear accompanied with symptoms like racing heartbeat, chest pain or shortness of breath? Do you have fearful thoughts about dying or having a heart attack? This can result in avoidance behaviors, social isolation, occupational and financial difficulties. In therapy, you'll gradually break the cycle of avoidance, learn to tolerate anxiety symptoms, and replace catastrophic thoughts with realistic ones. After successful completion of therapy you'll be able to manage anxiety triggers, experience a significant reduction in panic attacks and regain control of your life.
Exposure therapy is clinically proven as the most effective treatment for panic and anxiety disorders. Through safe, structured, collaborative exercises, you'll learn panic sensations are uncomfortable but not dangerous.
This is not open-ended therapy that lasts for years. We'll set clear goals, track your progress and focus on fast, measurable relief.
At the end of therapy we'll discuss overcoming setbacks and create a customized relapse prevention plan to help you move forward.
